The Age of Sages

The Age of Sages *Dojeon 2:16

6 “The Early Heaven has been an age of conquerors in which sin has been the way of life, but the Later Heaven shall be an age of sages in which benevolence shall be the way of life.

7 Solemnity prevailed in the Early Heaven, but laughter shall prevail in the Later Heaven.

8 “Our work is the practice of helping others flourish. After others prosper, we need only to take what remains and our work will be accomplished. 9 Jeon Myeong-suk attempted a revolution to transform commoners into nobles, and for this he was rewarded in the afterlife with the glory of becoming the Great King of the Joseon Myeongbu(The Court of Judgment in the Hereafter).”

The message that Jeung San Do intends to convey to the public is this: ‘The cosmic season is giving way to autumn. The Autumn Gaebyeok is coming. Jeung San Do is a truth which aims to save people by spreading across the world the dao of Gang Jeung-san Sangjenim, who incarnated as a human at this time of the age of the Autumn Gaebyeok. At the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok, when all are faced with inevitable death, what must be done to save others and oneself?’ This is the core message of Jeung San Do’s teachings, which are uniquely different from all the religions and philosophies of the past. Therefore, Jeung San Do can be considered ‘a truth that transcends religion.’

The Coming of God the Father into the World

The Coming of God the Father into the World *Dojeon 1:3

1 Jesus Christ proclaimed the existence of the Father in heaven as he suffered on the cross. He revealed to his apostles:

2 ... I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.

3 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations … in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you....

4 Inspired by the Holy Spirit of the Father, John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelation, which proclaimed the news of the Father on the great white throne and of the seven holy spirits who stand before the throne:

5 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

6 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.

7 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

8 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea,

9 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

10 God on the great white throne revealed to John, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End ... who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

11 These proclamations are heraldings of the advent of the Father Himself into the world, coming forth to end the old heaven and earth and usher in the new heaven and earth, to bring forth paradise on earth.

Maitreya Buddha, God the Father, God on the great white throne, Okhwang—Sangjenim—who are they? They are one in the same: Jeung-san Sangjenim. Peoples and cultures differ from one another, and so their expressions for God naturally differ; yet, they are referring to the same God. They are essentially referring to God who incarnates into the world in the era of ‘metal-fire interchange,’ when the seeds of humanity are harvested, to bring forth a new age by way of a new culture.

Spirit Teaching: The Fount of Confucianism, Buddhism, Immortalism, and Christianity

Spirit Teaching: The Fount of Confucianism, Buddhism, Immortalism, and Christianity *Dojeon 1:6

1 Confucianism, Buddhism, Immortalism, and Christianity all originated from Spirit Teaching, but their individual regions and civilizations influenced them and hence caused them to diverge into separate paths.

2 At the approach of the autumn era of maturation and unity, Sangjenim incarnated into Joseon, the land in the direction of Gan,

3 thereby fulfilling the words of the sages of these teachings concerning the incarnation of the Lord of Heaven and Earth into this world.

Spirit Teaching(Singyo) is the primordial form of spirituality, the ur-religion, that began at the dawn of human civilization. Spirit Teaching signifies ‘imparting the teachings of God,’ ‘teaching all matters based on the way of spirits,’ or ‘placing God as the center of all human edification.’

Jeung San Do consolidates ‘Confucianism, which is fundamentally about propriety,’ ‘Buddhism, which is fundamentally about the substance of all forms,’ and ‘Immortalism, which is fundamentally about creation-transformation,’ and subsequently bears the fruit seed of a single truth. It is the unified culture of fruition that consolidates politics, religion, economics, culture, society, and numerous other fields into one.

The Best of All Flowers

The Best of All Flowers *Dojeon 8:2

1 Sangjenim loved the company of people, the more the better.
2 One day in 1902 (DG 32) as Sangjenim was sitting in a room with the disciples, gazing upon them, He said, “If you are bored, do something to amuse yourselves.”

3 So, the disciples sang a song about flowers, and Sangjenim asked them, “Of all the flowers, which do you like best?”
4 “Rice flowers,” someone answered. Another said, “Cotton flowers.” Yet another answered, “Tobacco flowers.”
5 Sangjenim declared, “Flowers that bloom inside the home are the best. Affection for an object wanes after it is beheld once or twice,

6 but affection for people grows each time they are beheld. Indeed, among all flowers, the human flower is the best.”

In a large pond, there are mayflies, minnows, frogs, snakes, fish, plants, and many other forms of life. That is why a pond is sometimes referred to as ‘a pond nation.’ A nation in a pond! This signifies that a pond accommodates a vast array of life. No matter how narrow-minded a person is, shouldn’t they at least possess the capacity of a large pond? Those who strive to become an ilkkun of heaven and earth, who carry out the work on behalf of heaven and earth, must become a vessel great enough to accommodate the earth!

The Sixty-Year Devotion and Virtue of Ancestral Spirits

The Sixty-Year Devotion and Virtue of Ancestral Spirits *Dojeon 2:101

1 “It takes infinite dedication for heaven to beget a human being,

2 and thus ancestral spirits devote more than sixty years to the receiving of a single worthy descendant from heaven, yet many spirits still do not succeed in begetting any descendants

3 How can you—the culmination of such arduous labors—spend your fleeting dream of a life in vain?

4 You must cherish the devotion and virtue of your ancestral spirits.”

Descendants are the ‘breathing holes’ of their ancestors! Just as a thousand-year-old tree will regain life if a single sprout survives and grows, a primogenitor forefather lives onward if even one of his descendants survives. As long as that descendant can produce at least a single child through sexual union, his countless ancestors spanning hundreds of generations will live onward in the realm of spirits.

For everyone, what is most precious in the world is none other than ourselves. Who, then, gave birth to me, the most precious being? My parents, of course—my ancestors. I was born into the world through my ancestors, and so, for me, my ancestors are my foremost God, taking precedence even over Okhwang-Sangjenim.

Spirit Teaching and Triune-Spirit Sangjenim

Spirit Teaching and Triune-Spirit Sangjenim *Dojeon 1:1:1~3

1 At the great beginning, heaven and earth opened in a single instant.

2 Amidst the glorious resplendence of the sudden opening of the universe was the Triune Spirit (Samsin). The Triune Spirit is the One Spirit, the universe’s Holy Spirit of Creation-Transformation.
3 The Triune Spirit gave birth to heaven and earth and begets all that exist.

We hope to become the people who observe the precepts of the Triune Spirit.

At this time, all the Nine Hwan Clans worshipped the Triune Spirit as their original ancestor.

When engendering creation and change, the Holy Spirit of creation-transformation functions as the Triune Spirit of Creation-Transformation, Edification and Governance. The Governing God that rules over heaven, earth, humanity and all creation upon achieving unity with the Triune Spirit is called Sangjenim or Triune-Spirit Sangjenim.

The Workers Hold Life and Death in Their Hands

The Workers Hold Life and Death in Their Hands *Dojeon 8:70

1 “You hold within your hand the word saeng(生), which means ‘to save life’—is now not the autumn, in which humans fulfill the will of heaven and earth? My work shall be accomplished through three stages of change.

2 The work of heaven and earth rests at the divide between life and death. Our ceaseless struggle is the work of three meals a day for all.

3 Our work is to survive when others die and to flourish with glory and prosperity when others merely survive.”

In Sangjenim’s truth, only the culture of mutual life-giving and life-saving is possible. Only if others live well can one also thrive; people can live well only if all do so together. If a single person lives well, will others allow this situation to continue? The culture of the past was a culture in which one lived life by trampling others. Sangjenim proclaimed, “Through Me, everything shall begin anew.” Although the world of the past was dominated by the principle of mutual conflict and domination, thievery and destruction will spontaneously disappear in the coming world, in accordance with Sangjenim’s proclamation, and a new culture of mutual life-giving and life-saving will be established instead.

When Gaebyeok Occurs

When Gaebyeok Occurs *Dojeon 7:12

1 Sangjenim revealed, “I ensured that the time of gaebyeok would not be known by even enlightened sages.

2 For all your anxious yearning, gaebyeok will occur in the blink of an eye. Gaebyeok will be swift when it unfolds.”

3 He also declared, “The day of gaebyeok will arrive only when heaven and earth will it; the day will arrive only when the time is ripe.

5 Just as a baby emerges from its mother’s womb only after ten months, the gaebyeok of heaven and earth will occur only at the proper moment.

6 In the future, time will streak past in years, then in months, days, hours, and finally minutes. Keep careful watch on the tides of the world.”

By disassembling and reconstructing heaven and earth, I have firmly and seamlessly woven together dosu, and new turning points shall unfold as these dosu become fulfilled.

Do not merely wait for the coming of the time.

Since My work shall unfold only as the new milestones of destiny are reached, do not succumb to greed. If you place greed first, your devotion will never be ardent.

Successfully Surmount the Coming Dire Straits

Successfully Surmount the Coming Dire Straits *Dojeon 7:15

1 “As the destiny of gaebyeok draws nearer, dao becomes all the more elusive, so keep your mind steadfast and successfully surmount the coming dire straits.

2 Those of wealth, prestige, and power shall be afflicted with vengeful qi and plucked like bean sprouts.

3 “Clarify your blood lineage, for now is the age of seeking out the beginning and returning to the origin. All who change or disavow their fathers and ancestors shall die.”

Autumn is the time of ‘seeking out the beginning and returning to the origin.’ Since it is the time of recovering one’s original self, those who betray their roots are doomed to perish. In very simple terms, even a blade of grass as fine as a needle must return its essence, or sap, to its roots. But if this does not occur and the essence is lost, then the roots wither and die. When the next spring arrives, no new life can arise from these roots. Similarly, if one betrays their ancestors―their roots―there is no way to survive.

Now is the age when all existence seeks out and returns to its origin, for such is nature’s principle. Humanity must also seek out and return to its origin, and so in terms of mantras, all people must chant the mantra of seeking out and returning to the origin. The mantra of seeking out and discovering one’s self and one’s roots is the Taeeulju Mantra.

Sangjenim Obtains Hyeong-ryeol’s Pledge Three Times *Dojeon 3:7

9 Sangjenim then asked Hyeong-ryeol, “What say you that together we conduct the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth?”

10 Hyeong-ryeol could only reply by inquiring, “Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth? What, may I ask, do You mean?”

11 “Since the tides of heaven and earth dictate that the destiny of the Early Heaven shall give way to the onrushing destiny of the Later Heaven, I shall bring forth a new heaven and remake humanity to raise up the Paradise of Immortality. It is now the age for a new order to arise.

12 The autumn destiny of heaven and earth has now arrived, so I shall rebuild the gate of life and return the workings of heaven and earth to their origin to rouse new vitality in all directions—such is the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth.”

There is gaebyeok in the Early Heaven, and there is gaebyeok in the Later Heaven.

The order of heaven and earth is changing from the Early Heaven to the Later Heaven and from cosmic summer to cosmic autumn. Changes are taking place through which the era of division in summer is giving way to the era of maturity, the era of the great unification in autumn. Under these circumstances, it is critically important for us to recognize and boldly confront these changes in the order of heaven and earth. We should scrutinize the current situation with keen insight and hence understand that we are facing the Autumn Gaebyeok.
