The Organization That Works on Behalf of Heaven and Earth

It is an unchangeable principle that heaven and earth cultivates humanity for thousands or tens of thousands of years. Who, then, acts on behalf of heaven and earth? It is human beings who represent heaven and earth, which have no voices, hands, or feet. Human beings cultivate plants and trees each year on behalf of heaven and earth. At the coming time when heaven and earth select human seeds, it is also human beings who will help heaven and earth to finish their cosmic-year-long labor of cultivation.

Jeung San Do is the organization that harvests human seeds on behalf of heaven and earth. In another sense, Jeung San Do—the dao—is the fruition of heaven and earth.
If there were no sun or moon, heaven and earth would be empty shells, unable to give birth to or raise anything. Likewise, heaven, earth, sun, and moon would be empty shadows if there were no human beings. The human is the principal being among all life. Without human beings, heaven and earth and the sun and moon would have no use.

Human Seeds Are Harvested at the Autumn Gaebyeok

Human Seeds Are Harvested at the Autumn Gaebyeok

You may wonder, “Given that humans live only, at the most, one hundred years, how is it possible for humans to be cultivated throughout the boundless cosmic year?” The answer lies in the fact that, thousands of years ago, human seeds were planted, and their genes have since been passed down from generation to generation, all the way to us.

Your ancestors are your root of existence. You were born with your ancestors’ genes, passed on to you through your parents, your grandparents, your great-grandparents, your great-great-grandparents, and your ancestors of one hundred, two hundred, or even three hundred generations ago. In other words, this lineage has been passed down all the way to you.

Talking of plants and trees, spring and summer exist for the sole purpose of producing fruit in autumn. If not for this fruit, spring and summer would not be necessary processes at all. Similarly, at the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok, if human seeds are not selected, everything will be meaningless. If heaven and earth and our ancestors fail to harvest good human seeds—good descendants—all their efforts will have been in vain. You see countless trees and plants that fail to bear fruit in autumn perish and leave behind only empty husks.

Speaking Exercise
① have[has] + been + 과거분사 ( ~ 되어오고 있다)
Since human seeds were planted thousands of years ago, their genes have been passed down from generation to generation, all the way to us.

We have been trapped under the reign of mutual conflict and domination since the Early Heaven Gaebyeok.

② will have + 과거분사 (~하게 될 것이다)
If heaven and earth fail to harvest good human seeds, all their efforts will have been in vain.

③ If not for + 명사 (만약 ~이 없다면 ~할텐데)
If not for autumn fruit, spring and summer would not be necessary processes at all.

If not for you, we would all die.

The Cycle of Birth in the Spring and Death in the Autumn

The Cycle of Birth in the Spring and Death in the Autumn

We live in a time when heaven and earth are about to go through gaebyeok and harvest only selected human seeds.

Heaven and earth give birth in the spring and bring death in the autumn. Heaven and earth exist to give birth in the spring and bring death in the autumn.

We call a single revolution of the earth around the sun a year. The earth on which we live presently revolves around the sun in an egg-shaped or elliptical orbit. The earth revolves around the sun in an elliptical orbit, making four seasons per orbit. This is the cycle of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. In spring, life is born; in summer, it grows; in autumn, it collects essence and bears fruit; in winter, it rests. Next spring, new buds bloom. This principle is immutable.

A similar cycle of change occurs within the universe—the cosmic year. The cycle in which the cosmos completes a full circle is called the cosmic year. In concord with the same principle as the earth’s revolution around the sun, the cosmic year observes an order marked by four seasons per year. During a cosmic year, the universe cultivates humanity. Just as trees and plants are cultivated during an earth year, humans are nurtured and harvested during a cosmic year.

Speaking Exercise
① 명사 + in which (~ 하는 “무엇”)
The cycle in which the cosmos completes a full circle is called the cosmic year.

The Later Heaven shall be a world in which spirits and humans become one.

② 장소명사 + on which (~하는 “곳”)
The earth on which we live now revolves around the sun in an elliptical orbit.

New land on which to live shall appear.

③ 시간명사 + when (~하는 “때”)
We live in a time when heaven and earth harvest human seeds.

There shall come a time when it will be difficult to find even a single person in ten ri.

The twenty-first century will be the era of global unification, and the world will become one family. We are still in the world of cosmic summer, but in the near future, after gaebyeok, the world of autumn will come. The time of autumn is when heaven, earth, and humanity achieve their purpose.

The future world is the world in which humans and spirits unite as one. In the future, all people become enlightened by meditating with the Taeeulju Mantra. Could you tell us about the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth?

Jeung-san Sangjenim came to this world, and in the most rational and well-thought-out way, used the principles of heaven, earth, and humanity to lay a path to a new world. This is what we call the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth (Cheonjigongsa). In short, using the history of humankind as the raw material, he made his ideal of the future become a reality.

Sangjenim formed a government of spirits, the Government of Creation-Transformation, by assembling all the spirits filled with unresolved bitterness and grief, spirits of failed revolutionaries, the preeminent spirits of the world’s civilizations, all the world’s regional spirits, all family lineages’ ancestral spirits. Because this work was so vast, it took nine years to complete, 1901 to 1909.

All events, great and small, proceed according to the program of this government of spirits. Only those who know the secrets of the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth can know what the future is going to be. The history of the twentieth century is one of transition—the transition from cosmic summer to cosmic autumn. Through this process of transition, the bitterness and grief accumulated throughout the Early Heaven are resolved and all conditions are met for a new world to come.

Why is Jeung San Do called dao (do) rather than religion?

Jeung San Do’s teachings are based on the principle of nature. Jeung San Do is the principle of nature, and the principle of nature is Jeung San Do.

The principle of nature is, in a word, dao(do). Dao is the principle (li) that exists of itself. It is also qi that exists of itself.

Preceding heaven and earth, dao is the basis of all that exists in the universe. Without dao, all that is in the universe, including humans, could not have been born and could not go on living.

Dao(Do) is the principle of nature itself; dao is the principle of the universe. Because the truth of Jeung-san Sangjenim is dao, we call it Jeung San Do.

No better truth can exist in the future. Jeung San Do is the culmination of all teachings and culture.

Speaking Exercise
1. principle of nature

Jeung San Do’s teachings are based on the principle of nature.

When we begin our study of the truth, our study must begin with an inquiry into the principle of nature that underlies all change.

Life is a continual process of learning the principle of nature and of human life.

2. culmination
Jeung San Do is the culmination of all teachings and culture.

God the Father, the Absolute, will advent into this world to bring humanity’s civilization and history to a culmination.

The Taeeulju Mantra is the culmination of the history of enlightenment, both in the East and West.

At a Church in Geumsan *Dojeon 5:9

1 One autumn day, Sangjenim traveled to Geumsan Township in Muju County with Hyeong-ryeol and Ho-yeon.

2 When they finally reached Geumsan late at night, they entered a Christian church where many people were listening to a preacher’s sermon.

3 “It is said that God so loved this world that He sent His only begotten son Jesus to us, so whoever believes in Jesus without any wavering in their hearts will gain everlasting life.

4 Now, let us all hold each other’s hands and believe together,” declared the preacher as he delivered an impassioned sermon.

How Dare You Deceive the Multitudes! *Dojeon 5:10

1 Sangjenim strode toward the pulpit, berating the preacher in a thunderous voice, “You should not teach such falsehoods!

2 The principle of all affairs in heaven and earth resides within all those who dwell in heaven and earth, so how dare you deceive the multitudes!

3 If you wish to teach, teach correctly, laying out a straight path.

4 Once a path has been laid, it spreads throughout the world like veins, so if what you teach is not the right path, do not teach it at all.”

5 Sangjenim continued, “Misguiding people even thrusts the Original Master of Heaven and Earth from His rightful place.” Sangjenim then rebuked the people for the grievous sin of disavowing their fathers and ancestors.

I Am Maitreya *Dojeon 4:34

1 One day while sojourning with Geum-gok, Sangjenim all of sudden thunderously demanded of Geum-gok, “In whom will you believe? 2 Shakyamuni was conferred a destiny of only three thousand years. Do you not wish to receive a destiny of fifty thousand years?

3 The coming world shall be the world of Holy Maitreya Buddha-and it is I who am Maitreya. Should we not reunite in that future?”
4 “I shall no longer have faith in Shakyamuni Buddha,” Geum-gok answered. “I shall have faith only in You, venerable Gahng Jeung-san.”
Sangjenim laughed in delight. “Very well, preserve this faith in Me.”
5 Sangjenim often told Geum-gok, “Shakyamuni was conferred an authority lasting three thousand years, but his three thousand years will soon come to an end.”

Putrid Confucianism *Dojeon 3:60

9 While staying with Bo-gyeong later that month, Sangjenim commanded him, “Write the three words Confucianism, Buddhism, and Immortalism.”

10 He then instructed the disciples present, “Indicate one of the three, whichever you will.” Bo-gyeong pointed to Buddhism, and someone else pointed to Confucianism.
11 Sangjenim declared, “Confucianism has become putrid Confucianism.”

Sangjenim sent many sages to the East and West who established many religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, and Daoism. But without the one who governs affairs of the universe, Sangjenim, the problems of the universe cannot be solved.

Sangjenim said, “It is I who sent Confucius, Shakyamuni, and Jesus to the world, to serve in My work.” (Dojeon 2:43:5)―a Christian I know who attended the largest church in Korea heard this passage, and he said that afterward he could not get sleep at all because the truth it contained had shocked and thrilled him so deeply. Although he had always attended church, his yearning for truth had never been satisfied. He felt something missing. ‘Where, when, why, how, and for whom was the universe born? What is the purpose of human existence?’ People asked these questions in vain―whether they were a child, a scholar, a politician, or anyone in the East and West, young or old―because they had not yet encountered a universal dao.

Sangjenim Sent Confucius, Shakyamuni, and Jesus to the World

Sangjenim Sent Confucius, Shakyamuni, and Jesus to the World *Dojeon 2:43

1 Sangjenim one day said to the disciples, “Those who believe in Jesus await the second coming of Jesus,

2 those who believe in Buddha await the coming of Maitreya Buddha,

3 and those who believe in Eastern Learning await the rebirth of Choe Su-un.

4 But whoever this person proves to be, when that one person comes, all will proclaim him their master and follow him.”
6 Sangjenim then revealed, “It is I who sent Confucius, Shakyamuni, and Jesus to the world, to serve in My work.”

Shakyamuni Buddha said, ‘Three thousand years later, Maitreya Buddha will come.’ In the West, Jesus proclaimed word of God the Father. Jesus said, “I am from Him, and He sent Me.” Jesus also proclaimed the coming of God the Father. It would not be himself but God the Father who would come to the world. John the Apostle proclaimed the coming of God on the great white throne. In the East, Confucianism and Daoism worshipped Okhwang-Sangje (“Jade Emperor of Heaven”), or Sangje. Expressions varied with religious cultures, but they all spoke of the True God. Heaven and earth are the one and only. Likewise, God the Ruler―the Supreme Governor―is the one and only.

Sangjenim (“Emperor Above” or “Supreme God”) is God the Ruler of the Universe. As the Supreme Governor of the Universe, Sangjenim rules over everything with His commands. Without Sangjenim’s advent into the world at the approach of cosmic autumn, none of the spirits of people who had lived throughout history could be controlled. In other words, only the True God could rule over all the spirits of those who had once lived as humans. Sangjenim―God the Ruler―incarnated into this world and gathered the essence of all the cultures of the Early Heaven and opened the path to a new world.
