After Death

After Death

Everyone possesses both a heavenly soul (혼, 魂) and an earthly soul (넋, 魄). After death, the heavenly soul ascends to heaven and becomes a spirit (신, 神).
After receiving ancestral rituals from four generations of descendants, the spirit might then become a radiant being (영, 靈) or even an immortal being (선, 仙).
After death, the earthly soul returns to earth and, after four generations, becomes a ghostly being (귀, 鬼).

Jeung San Do University

Dialogue 1

A: I would like to know what kind of school the Jeung San Do University is.
B: Every practitioner is a student of the Jeung San Do University. Through the Jeung San Do University programs the practitioners broaden their understanding of the teachings and carry out these teachings in their daily lives. We practitioners must study the Dojeon and the words of Taesang Jongdosanim and Jongdosanim so that we engrave the sacred teachings in our minds. This only becomes possible through the Jeung San Do University, so all practitioners must participate in the Jeung San Do University programs.

Dialogue 2

A: I cannot emphasize enough the importance of water offerings, praying and meditating everyday, and also making donations, but the most important thing of all is that every practitioner must convey the teachings of Sangjenim and Taemonim to at least six people.
B: Are you talking about the Vanguard of Six?
A: Yes. Forming a vanguard of six is a fundamental duty of a Jeung San Do practitioner. During this process of forming a team, your understanding about the truth deepens, and you mature as a true worker of heaven and earth.

Become the Embodiment of Truth

Humans are cultivated during the four great seasons of this universe: cosmic spring, cosmic summer, cosmic autumn, and cosmic winter.

Acquainting yourself well with these four seasons is crucial; comprehending the principle of birth, growth, harvest, and rest is imperative.

It is not enough for you to simply trumpet the principle of heaven and earth; it is not enough to just say that the universe is about to enter the cosmic autumn from cosmic summer.

You must become one with heaven and earth’s principle of change and speak as the voice of the living heaven and earth.

In other words, you must be a master of the principle of heaven and earth, and you must proclaim the order of heaven and earth.

Only then does the consciousness of the ilkkun become the voice of the living heaven and earth.

At that point, the ilkkun become the embodiment of truth that saves people and sets the human mind right.

Our study of dao and our declaration of truth should be conducted in this state of oneness.

The Five Basics of Practice

Dialogue 1

A: Is there a set of rules that Jeung San Do practitioners must follow?
B: Yes. It is known as the Five Basics of Practice. When you first become a member of Jeung San Do, you take an oath in the presence of Sangjenim, Taemonim, Taesabunim and Sabunim and the holy spirits of heaven and earth that you’ll abide by these rules.

Dialogue 2
A: What are the Five Basics of Practice?
B: First, you must attend chiseongs. Second, you must make water bowl offerings, pray, and meditate daily. Third, you must make monthly donations. Fourth, you must share the teachings of Jeung San Do with six others. And last but not least, you must attend Jeung San Do University programs.

The Ilkkun’s Mission

Now is the time when the order of heaven and earth is undergoing change.

No one can survive in the coming world without embracing Sangjenim’s teachings.

To cross over into the next world, one must embrace Sangjenim’s teachings.

Even should that person own the whole earth or possess the power to rule the entire world, it would all be useless.

What is the use of power when heaven and earth themselves collapse?

Therefore, we must share with others Sangjenim's teachings.

We have to conscientiously practice our faith with one mind as much as we can.

We should never waste time. Idling away time is exactly what must be avoided.

Wasted time can never be regained.

Be Sangjenim’s soul and Jeung San Do’s guardians, and believe, “We are Sangjenim’s sons and daughters. We are the sons and daughters of heaven and earth.”

The History of the Dao Movement

The History of the Dao Movement

Dialogue 1
A: Can you tell me about the history of Jeung San Do?
B: After Sangjenim’s ascension, the dao movement underwent three major changes during the last 100-year process of maturation which leads to today.

A: Did Taemonim start the first stage?
B: Yes. Jeung San Do’s first stage was established by Taemo Go Subunim, who succeeded the dao lineage, during the time of the Japanese occupation of Korea. After Sangjenim’s ascension, the disciples, who felt lost, finally came together and gathered around Taemonim. Among them, Cha Gyeong-seok started an organization named Bocheongyo, which attracted seven million members.

Dialogue 2
A: Then what was the second stage?
B: Jeung San Do’s second phase in the destiny of the dao started as the Japanese imperialism was driven out of Korea and the country finally regained its independence in 1945. Ahn Un-san, His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim, who was waiting for the right time while traveling and studying the world, finally started a new beginning for the history of dao affairs.

A: What is the third stage of Jeung San Do’s history?
B: The third phase started in 1974 by His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim and His Holiness the Jongdosanim. During the first and second stages, about 10 million practitioners followed the teachings of Jeung-san Sangjenim but did not really know who Sangjenim was, why He incarnated as a human, or exactly what He did. Only with the publication of the Dojeon in the third phase, a new era of Sangjenim's dao has begun.

The Founding of Taemonim’s Dojang

The Founding of Taemonim’s Dojang

In 1911, Taemonim summoned all the disciples who had directly served Sangjenim.

The gathered disciples were astounded and awed by Her divine power.

At this time, Taemonim wielded Her spiritual authority to inaugurate the Center of Dao Authority and Governance, then declared the founding of Her dojang.

Sangjenim’s disciples, who had been lost and uncertain what to do since Sangjenim’s ascension, unequivocally reaffirmed their resolve and began to follow Taemonim.

Taemonim designated Cha Gyeong-seok’s house as the dojang and had the disciples journey in every direction to spread Sangjenim’s teachings.

This constituted the beginning of the organized movement to spread Sangjenim’s Supreme Dao of Mugeuk in Joseon, and throngs of people began to gather and became followers.

After three years, the Taeeulju Mantra was resounding continually throughout the country.

God the Father and God the Mother

God the Father and God the Mother

Dialogue 1
A: How did Jeung-san Sangjenim’s dao spread after Sangjenim’s ascension?
B: It started through the devotion of the Great Mother Taemo Go Subunim. Two years after Sangjenim’s ascension, in 1911, Taemonim attained ultimate enlightenment, inspired by Sangjenim’s Holy Spirit. She gathered the disciples of Sangjenim who were in despair and declared the founding a new spiritual movement.

A: What other tasks did Taemonim perform as the successor of Sangjenim’s work?
B: For many years before Her returning to heaven in 1935, Taemonim conducted Her Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth. She walked the path of selfless devotion as the mother of all of humanity and the rest of the universe.

Dialogue 2
A: Who received the direct dao lineage and authority of Jeung-san Sangjenim?
B: Taemo Go Subunim. Jeung-san Sangjenim himself chose Subunim as His successor in the year 1907.

A: There were many male disciples of Sangjenim. Looking at the historical and cultural background at the time, choosing Taemonim as His successor must have been a very unconventional event.
B: It was rather a revolutionary event during Her time, but all of Sangjenim’s work has been done according to the cosmic principle. If there is heaven, there must be earth. If there’s a father, there has to be a mother. By Sangjaenim and Subunim coming together into the human history, all of humanity can now honor Father God and Mother God at the same time.

Sangjenim’s Consort and the Successor of His Supreme Dao

Sangjenim’s Consort and the Successor of His Supreme Dao

The Early Heaven’s order of mutual conflict includes an inequality in which yang energy tends to be stronger than that of yin, leading to the oppression of women in both Eastern and Western cultures.

This oppression extends into religious teachings, with the result that throughout all of history since ancient times, no woman has ever been the successor to any lineage of enlightenment.

But Sangjenim transferred His dao lineage to His consort Subunim, the Head of All Humans and Spirits, the root of life.

As Sangjenim’s successor, Subunim continued Sangjenim's Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth, atoning for sins and bitterness and grief on behalf of all of humanity and thus guiding the world’s people to the path of a new life.

She is also addressed as Taemonim (“Great Mother”) or as Taemo Go Subunim.

Salvation at the Time of Gaebyeok

Dialogue 1

A: Who gets to survive the calamities of the Autumn Gaebyeok and become the one to receive new life in the Later Heaven?
B: You meet the path of life through the devotion and virtues of your ancestors.

A: Can one be saved through their own devotion and one mind, too?
B: Yes, the accumulation of your ancestors' virtue is important but you can also receive salvation if you open your ears to the truth and pursue Sangjenim's dao with an extreme devotion to overcome any obstacles.

Dialogue 2
A: What must we do in our daily life to be born again into the eternal life in a new heaven and earth?
B: During the gaebyeok, six people with a team leader will revive dead people with the great authority of uitong. Therefore, in preparation, you must in daily life convey Sangjenim’s teachings to six others.

A: Is there anything else we should do for our deliverance besides conveying Sangjenim’s teachings?
B: Chanting the Taeeulju Mantra. The Taeeulju Mantra is the only medicine which can save people at the time of gaebyeok. We must ceaselessly chant the Taeeulju Mantra as we face the Autumn Gaebyeok.
